3.5 starsFun, southern, cozy mystery with a colorful cast of characters This audiobook was my companion during the stocking of a new bookshelf It was an entertaining and light hearted murder mystery full of southernisms and charm Mary Kay Andrews was recommended by a co worker who shares my love of books and reading, and I m thrilled to have a new cozy author with lots of books under her belt Although it s part of a series, I had no trouble jumping in at book 2.

I m enjoying this series so far This was a nice cozy, fun little mystery, but it sort of suffers by comparison It s somewhere in between Sue Grafton s Alphabet Mystery series with Kinsey Millhone and Janet Evanovich s Stephanie Plum series It s not as hard hitting as the former nor as funny as the latter On its own merit, if you can avoid comparisons, it s quite the entertaining read with fun, quirky characters whom I am looking forward to getting to know better.
Murder mystery with comical elements Set in the Atlanta, GA, Andrews adds a southern flare to the story Though well written it drags in some placesA whole book covering only about a week in the lives of the characters There are lots of characters introduced as suspects and persons to interview seeking information about the murder For the sensitive reader, there is strong language throughout the book There are no detailed sexual scenes but there are mentions of sexual relationships.
For some reason, I was not thrilled with this novel.I still like the characters, but the story line was not too interesting to me I liked it okay I ll check out some other ones and see if it s just one kind of okay or a trend.
Love this I lived in Savannah, GA for 18 years and did a lot of travel to Atlanta So it brought back a lot of memories of that part of my life Smart, fun characters that exemplify the Southern way of life.
It wasn t bad, but it wasn t good either I had such a hard time getting into this book It has taken me two months to get through it I feel that there were loose ends left I would not read it again, nor would I recommend it.
I wasn t planning on coming back to this series, and just turned to this as a last minute book when I was walking out the door to hike, but I liked it Good mystery, and they hit on some of the race issues a bit in the south, which I am curious about.

This is just a fun series Hilary Huber is the narrator if you re doing the audiobook thing, and she is fantastic My absolute favorite.
